THE MCR COMMON ROOM
MCR stands for Middle Combination Room. It represents both an organisation of people and a physical room. The common room can be found on the ground floor of Canning & Eliza Folk House. It is the space where we socialize as a graduate community, invite our friends or simply relax – our living room in College . This is where most MCR socials take place as well as where graduates meet casually. Somewhere you can meet to have a chat or watch a movie, entertain your friends or read a book and relax in one of our comfy armchairs.
There is also a small computer room with a printer that is available to all Medwards postgrads and a garden that is the perfect place for picnics and barbecues in the summer!
The MCR has:
- a TV with DVD player and Playstation.
- a selection of board games and books.
- a pool table.
- an e-piano.
- a kitchenette with microwave and tea and coffee facilities.
- a range of armchairs and sofas.
You can book the MCR for private functions and also book various MCR Equipment.
The MCR Office
The MCR office is the area next to the MCR Common Room. It has two computers and a printer for graduate use. You can access the computers using your university access data (CRSid and personal password). To print, use access the printer using your university student card.
When the printer needs more ink or paper please email the MCR Computer Officer. If you notice stocks are low, please do let us know. You can also collect paper from, the Tutorial Office during College business hours.
We have a small stash of stationery for the use of the graduates. You can find pens, pencils, staplers, folders and sharpeners. In fact, you can get almost anything you might need when experiencing an essay or thesis crunch.
